You will have two mailing address for completion on the Form W7
Applicant mailing correspondence address – The address provided in this line will be the mailing address to which the ITIN approval letter or rejection letter with mailed out by ITIN office. You can use USA address or Foreign country address, ensure the post code are correct.
Foreign(Non-US address) – This address section to be completed by the applicant’s with (non USA address), This section is mandatory if you are sending the Form W7 application from outside of the United States.
What are other important mandatory section to be completed on Form W7?
- Line 4 : and make sure you enter the correct Date of Birth ( Ensure the dates in USA format [MM/DD/YYYY]
- Line 5 : Tick your Gender
- Line 6a: Enter the County of citizenship. (Note that : your passport will be presented for the Proof)
- Line 6f : If you are renewing your ITIN – ensure you enter the number and the name under the ITIN was issued.
- If ITIN was rejected and tax return was processed with temporary number without refund release, you would receive notice from IRS with temporary number, which need to completed on IRSN
Who can sign Form W7?
Form W7 can be signed by all adult applicant above the age of 18, The applicants need to sign on the section “Sign Here” “Signature of the applicant. In case of the minor dependents Parents can sign, In certain scenario cout appointed guardian can sign. The signature needs to be wet signature, digital signature is not accepted by the ITIN office.
Do I need to complete Acceptance Agent’s line on Form W7?
Form W7 – can be completed and sent by the applicants directly without using the Acceptance Agents provide these applicants send the original passports to ITIN operation office. ITIN office will retain the passport for 60 days and return in back to applicant. So you do not have to complete the Acceptance Agent section if you are mailing your original passport.
If your taking the service via IRS approved acceptance agents then your Acceptance Agents will be completing this section and be taking complete responsibility for the ITIN approval by ensuring passport is verified, all supporting documents for ITIN application is correct. Please note if you based outside of the United States you need take the service from foreign country based Certifed Acceptance Agents. By taking the service via IRS approved certified acceptance agent you do not have to send your original passport to ITIN operation office, the approved agents will be one who will be certifying the passports.
